This all started with a short video sharing a treat with Radar while providing security at the Verboort Sausage & Kraut Festival. After that we shared Pringles, biscuits from Popeyes, fries from Chick-fil-A, and eventually anything and everything fans sent from around the world. Radar started something bigger than the two of us, and I want to keep that going.
I wasn't sure how I was going to continue making videos that stacked up to Radar's iconic patrol car Jack-in-the-Box appearance, followed by his over the shoulder insatiable appetite. Anytime Radar was outside of the patrol car his snacking approach was to face me and beg. One day I was sitting on his bed and I had the idea of having him sit behind me to get a snack and it worked. Popping up over my shoulder wasn't quite the same as popping out of the kennel, but it had potential. Because I started making the snacking videos at home, I decided to see if the other dogs would follow the format - and they did.
Deputy Dog Radar is how it started - Deputy Dog Industries is how it's going. The crew has expanded, and so has our mission. I'm going to continue to support the amazing work the Beaverton Education Foundation does through plushie sales, and I'm working on merchandise so Deputy Dog fans across the world can show their love and support for one of the greatest communities on the planet.
